Kansas City, MO

Saturday September 29, 2007

6:24am  We are in Kansas City, MO.

6:46am  Michael just hooked me up with a cigarette. I just got to Kansas City. I appreciate it, Michael. Everybody gets credit, thanks. He even gave another brother a cigarette when he came outside.

6:53am  I'm outside the Greyhound station smoking a cigarette. I took a picture of the downtown skyline. Oh shit, there's more downtown over there.

6:58am  Walking down 12th Street passing Harrison. I'm walking towards the tall buildings.

7:03am  I just took a picture at 12th and Holmes.

7:11am  Turning right on Grand Blvd.

Left on 9th Street, going downhill. It's all San Francisco-looking here.

7:27am  I stopped and layered down over here by 9th and Walnut. I'm going to walk down Walnut. I'm going to keep going down the hill.

I'm on 10th Street. I see Main Street down at the bottom of the hill.

Please Love, let me have another magical day.

Cool, I found the transit center. I'll take a picture.

7:36am  I ate some Cheetos at the transit center. I'm going to walk off somewhere. I was considering asking a bus driver for a courtesy ride anywhere.

I got directed to the plaza.

                   Random shot.

7:51am  I got directions to this plaza, but I can't find it. I'm going to go back to the transit center and get a courtesy ride somewhere.

8:36am  Jacob hooked me up with a half a cigarette at the transit center. I appreciate it, bro. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

                   Some dude freestyling:

"I'm that gangsta you answer to. When I say bitch jump and that's what you'll do. I'm a fast-talking convict, know when you're mine. I'm rapping like a rebel even if I'm in the slammer. Cuz we could do it like the old west, no rest, put a gun to your chest..." Okay, I couldn't understand the rest.

9:34am  I went and I had a great presentation with the security guard in front of the library. I have to wait until ten for it to open. It usually opens at nine thirty, but not on Saturdays.

10:08am  They don't have guest passes here. I had to go through and sign up for a library card and everything. Fill out a form and shit.

12:11pm  I'm coming out of the library. I checked my email. I sent my mom an email. I even sat down and made a sheet's worth of little papers with my website. ::yawn:: I'm tired. I want to find a park where I can take a nap.

12:36pm  I haven't found anyone to listen to my story. Earlier I talked to this guy Aaron. He had just come up to me and starterd talking to me. He seemed to think he was a total Mr. Know-it-all. He didn't let me talk at all, even though he told me he was willing to listen. Anyway, I want to get some weed somehow.

I made my way to Case Park at the top of the street. I'm going to take a nap.

3:59pm  I just woke up from my nap in the park.

I didn't tell you, like five minutes after I lay down a cop came up on a bike, a patrolman. I told him, "I was told I could take a nap here. Isn't that what parks are for?" He told me, "Oh, well if you're going to take a nap find somewhere where no one can see you. Where no one is going to call on you." Can you believe that? Some motherfucker reported me for trying to sleep in the park.

Umm, isn't that what parks are for? To take naps in? Anyway, I just moved like thirty feet and made my bed again and crashed out. More in the bushes than before. I'm going to pack up.

4:22pm  All packed up and ready to go. I'm going to walk back down to the transit center. Catch a courtesy ride.

                   Random shot.

     5:04pm  I got a courtesy ride on a bus. I don't know where I'm going.

                    On the 57 bus South.

5:27pm  The bus driver told me to get off at the plaza. There's a lot of rich people there, he told me. I'll get seen. 47th Street and Wyandotte.

Pennsylvania Avenue and look for McDonald's. Get some water.

5:41pm  I just took a picture of the dancing penguins on Pennsylvania Avenue.

6:15pm  I got some water at the McDonald's. I had this awesome presentation with this girl in the plaza close to the dancing penguins. She was a beautiful girl with dreadlocks. I took her picture. I want to get her name. She works at an Espresso shop.

6:16pm  She works at Latte Land Espresso Shop. She's going to hook me up with a smoothie. Hell yeah.

Lindsey was the pretty girl I took a picture of. I appreciate it, Lindsey. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

                  Some random street shots.

6:44pm  Joe hooked me up with a cigarette at the bus stop. I appreciate it, brother. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

                   Kansas City Board of Trade

6:50pm  I just jumped on the bus 156.

Main Street and Armour Blvd. Pancho's. Some Mexican restaurant. I'm going to go hit them up.

7:03pm  The greedy ass at Pancho's gave me the 'ol manager's-not-here bullshit.

     7:17pm  Passing 57th again.

8:03pm  Lee gave me a cigarette.

8:04pm  Lee's got a story for me. What's up? Lee: "I'm a graffiti artist and I tag the word Respect. I began writing it wherever I could as a message. We can learn to respect. Agree to disagree, right? Without violence. I don't really have that much faith in people, but I do have compassion. When people need and I can give I try to. So I started tagging Respect everywhere. I've only been tagging it for like a year. Graffiti is an art form. I don't know what you called ealier but a good Mexican place is on 37th and Main. It's called Pancho's." I already went there. They told me no. Lee: "They told you no?! Man, they've given me food at two 'o clock in the morning."

Go to Broadway and ask for what park? Vet's Park? Ride the bus to Ward's Parkway. Get off right at Broadway and Westport Road. Get off the bus and walk South. You should be able to find a place to camp easy.

8:19pm  I came back to the transit center and I met some guy named Lee and he told me about this park. I have to catch the Westport bus, #51. Courtesy ride, hopefully.

8:40pm  The nice driver driving the 51 gave me a courtesy ride. I appreciate it. Everybody gets credit, thanks.

8:53pm  Lolita was nice enough to let me borrow her cellphone on the bus so I can call my mom.

9:01pm  I got dropped off at Westport and Broadway.

9:03pm  I came to ther BP at Broadway and 40th Street. Let me see if they have a bathroom.

9:26pm  I had a good presentation with these Christian guys, awesome.

9:48pm  Phil hooked me up with a cigarette on Westport.

Next day..
